New or Used??

We are constantly asked the question “Do you have any cheap, used trailers?” As you may have already guessed, the answer is usually “NO”. There’s a good reason for that. Typically, when a customer sells a used trailer, it’s because it needs a lot of work. Now, I’m not saying there aren’t any good used trailers out there, because there are, but a lot of them need some expensive repairs that makes the purchase of a used trailer cost more than it would be for a new one. Most trailers need new tires or brakes, etc. that can add up to a heavy bill at the end. Save yourself the headache of having to repair a used trailer. Give yourself the peace of mind, purchase a new trailer, from Trailer King. Visit www.trailerking.com for more info.

And as a bonus, you don’t have to stand around at DMV. We do that for you. You’re welcome!! LOL

Camping Season Countdown…..

Here in the Northeast, the camping season goes into full swing Memorial Day Weekend, which is only 3 weeks away! This means cookouts with the friends, s’mores around a cozy campfire & the buzz of happy campers in the air. You’ve been waiting for this since the end of last year’s camping season.

There’s just a few things you need to do before you get your camper set up on site.

1. Start Making Plans. Especially for a holiday weekend, make reservations at your favorite campground a few weeks in advance to ensure there will be room for you when you arrive.
2. Check your campers running gear. Your camper has been parked all winter long. Those brakes and bearings probably haven’t moved since October, so a service is recommended.
3. Is your camper Inspected? A good way to confirm all of your lights and safety equipment are in working order is to have a New York State Safety Inspection completed. An inspection covers your lights, tires, & brakes. Not to mention, it’s the law!
4. Relax & Go Camping!!

The Dreaded D.O.T. Stop…..

If you are familiar with towing a trailer, you are probably likely to have experienced a D.O.T. Safety Checkpoint.
There are a lot of things that can make these stops run a little more smoothly. You would be surprised to know how many people don’t realize their trailer needs to be inspected every year. That is going to be one of the 1st things they check during a DOT stop, and if you don’t have a valid NYS Inspection Certificate, it can set off red flags for them to look into everything.
There are certain things you are required to carry such as, safety triangles, fire extinguisher & first aid kit, for starters. Before you get to that checkpoint, stop by Trailer King and get your DOT Compliance kit instead of getting a ticket!
